BELLEVUE, Wash. --- UC Irvine rattled off a run in the ninth inning that proved to be the difference in a 3-2 victory Sunday morning at Bannerwood Park.
Calvin Faucher brought the heat in the ninth inning striking out the first two batters he saw before getting a fly ball to left to end the Anteater victory.
UCI got spotless pitching from Louis Raymond who had allowed just three hits over six innings before allowing the first two to reach in the seventh. Raymond was tagged with a no decision after the runs would come around under Andre Pallante's watch, but he would get out of a pair of jams to preserve the score.
The big offensive blow came in the sixth inning from Alex Guenette. After Jake Hazard extended the inning with an infield single, Guenette connected for a big fly to left field, the first of his career, to give UCI the brief 2-0 lead.
Seattle (6-11) tied things up in the seventh thanks to a pinch-hit double from Mike Ciancio that plated two, but it was the only offense the Redhawks could muster. Starter Jake Prizina matched Raymond with shutout ball through 5.2 innings until Guenette touched him up.
