IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine women's soccer brings in more defense in the form of Lauren McKimmey's championship pedigree.
McKimmey is staying close to home with her move to UC Irvine as the Anaheim-native lettered for three years at Mater Dei High School.
"Lauren is a tough competitor who will compete for minutes at the heart of our back four," raved Head Coach Scott Juniper. "Lauren is a very mature individual with a capacity to work, compete and learn. We love that combination of attributes. I have no doubt that she will arrive in August ready to start her college career competing for minutes."
McKimmey's work on the pitch has paid off at Mater Dei HS as the team took home the CIF Division I title in 2015 and reached the State finals. She's paired that with a Surf Cup title in her four years under coach Matt Bradbury for Albion SC on the club circuit.
Off the soccer pitch, McKimmey has worked to get to where she is being the oldest of five siblings in her family. She's also taken care of business in the classroom as a member of the National Honors Society, California Scholarship Federation, and Associated Students, Inc.
