The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) is a voluntary association of about 1,200 colleges and universities, athletic conferences and sports organizations devoted to the sound administration of intercollegiate athletics.  Institutional Control is the cornerstone of NCAA membership.  The principle of Institutional Control requires member institutions provide oversight and responsibility for the actions of all members of the Athletics Community.  As a Division I member institution, UC Irvine is firmly committed to the NCAA principle of institutional control. When conducting UCI’s athletic program, it is always our policy to adhere to all NCAA, Big West Conference and UC Irvine rules and regulations. It is the obligation and responsibility of all athletic department staff members and athletic community members to act within all applicable rules and regulations at all times per NCAA bylaw 2.1.1. Institutional Control is the responsibility of each member institution to control its intercollegiate athletics program in compliance with the rules and regulations of the Association.  Please help UC Irvine be the very best athletic department it can be and always act within the NCAA rules.  This compliance site is designed to assist coaches, prospective student-athletes, current student-athletes, athletics representatives/boosters, agents and anyone else interested in intercollegiate athletics at UC Irvine to act within the NCAA rules.
